OVERVIEW
The Viking Ragnarok is the only Viking-themed excursion boat in the Canary Islands: a large-capacity, strikingly designed motorboat where whale and dolphin watching can be complemented by live entertainment. It is neither a historical ship reconstruction nor a small-group charter, but a lively, family-friendly shared experience accommodating up to 113 passengers.

The boat departs from the port of Los Cristianos and heads towards Tenerife's southern coastline and the ocean area between Tenerife and La Gomera. Pilot whales and other cetaceans are common in this area throughout the year, but they are wild animals, so no particular species or encounter can be guaranteed. The captain adjusts the route according to current sightings and ocean conditions.

The 2-hour version primarily focuses on whale and dolphin watching: it includes the boat trip, guidance in English and Spanish and use of the onboard toilets, but does not include a Viking show, swimming stop or included drinks. The boat's striking theme remains, but this ticket type should not be chosen with the expectation of the complete Viking experience.

The 3-hour version provides the true themed part of the programme. The crew runs the programme in Viking costumes, organises games and presents a weapons demonstration, while there may also be opportunities to try on period costumes, have your face painted and take photographs. Participation is optional: anyone who would rather enjoy the views or watch the cetaceans can remain outside the games.

The longer version also includes a swimming stop, where swimming or snorkelling is possible when conditions are suitable. The location and duration of the stop are not fixed, and the captain may omit it entirely for safety reasons. The same applies to individual elements of the show, the games and face painting: these cannot be guaranteed in the event of strong waves or unfavourable weather.

The boat has shaded areas, a bar, toilets and an accessible toilet. Food can be purchased during both cruises, but neither ticket price includes a meal. Water, soft drinks, local beer and wine are available at no additional charge on the 3-hour version, while drinks are also payable on the 2-hour programme.

The programme is suitable for those looking for a more lively boat trip than a traditional whale and dolphin watching excursion, with entertainment that also keeps children engaged. The experience combines ocean wildlife and Viking-themed entertainment in a single programme, while the larger group size, lively atmosphere, guidance in English or Spanish and weather-dependent programme elements should all be taken into account.

FINESTPASS™ PRO tip
• for the complete Viking Ragnarok experience, choose the 3-hour version, as the 2-hour cruise does not include the show, swimming stop or drinks included in the price
• at weekends, arrive in the harbour area at least 45 minutes earlier, as finding a parking space may take longer
• if you are prone to seasickness, do not wait for the first symptoms, but prepare before the boat trip at the time recommended by your pharmacist
• to experience less movement, find a place in the middle of the boat and, if possible, on the lower deck
• to secure a shaded seat, it is advisable to arrive when boarding begins
• because of the boat's high sides, younger children cannot see well from every position, so choose a suitable place in good time for watching the cetaceans
• it is worth taking advantage of the face painting and costumed photo opportunities before the swimming stop
• food on board must be purchased separately, but the burgers receive particularly positive mentions in guest reviews
• in stronger waves, remain in a well-ventilated area of the deck, look at the horizon and avoid using your phone for extended periods
