OVERVIEW
The Loro Parque (Parrot Park), regarded as the world's best modern zoo, is a full-day animal and botanical park experience. This is not simply a walk around a zoo: extraordinary animal species, world-class habitats, tropical vegetation, immersive exhibition spaces and spectacular animal presentations create an exceptionally rich and memorable programme for several age groups.

The park opened in 1972 with just 150 parrots on a 13,000-square-metre (139,931-square-foot) site and is now home to more than 400 animal species. With its dense vegetation, lakes, bridges and Thai architectural elements, the park often feels more like an enormous tropical garden than a traditional zoo. According to its own information, the Loro Parque Fundación associated with the park has participated in more than 300 conservation and research projects and contributed to saving 18 endangered species.

Among the most extraordinary attractions are Planet Penguin, created with real snow and an enormous iceberg, the aquarium's shark tunnel, AquaViva, which presents the extraordinary world of jellyfish, and Katandra Treetops, which can be explored via suspension bridges while birds fly directly around visitors. Coral Kingdom, the largest coral reef outside the ocean, displays more than 8,000 corals and nearly 10,000 fish, while 360-degree projections and holographic technology make the experience even more spectacular.

Parrots, penguins, gorillas, chimpanzees, big cats, red pandas, hippos, capybaras, giant tortoises, sharks, jellyfish, dolphins, orcas and many other species can be observed in the park. Approximately 20-minute sea lion, parrot, dolphin and orca presentations are also held throughout the day and are among the park's most popular programmes. Opinions on the orca and dolphin presentations vary, so anyone who has reservations about displaying cetaceans living under human care should consider this before booking.

One of Loro Parque's greatest strengths is its variety: during the visit, completely different worlds follow one another, from an Antarctic environment through tropical birdlife and coral reefs to the wildlife of the ocean. Younger children can enjoy the playgrounds of Kinderlandia, while restaurants, cafés, picnic areas, rest areas and shops are also available throughout the park.

Due to the size of the park, it is worth allowing a full day for the visit and planning the route around the starting times of the animal presentations as soon as you arrive. Arriving early makes it easier to explore the most popular areas and allows more time to observe the animals at a relaxed pace. The park can be visited with both pushchairs and wheelchairs, and wheelchairs, electric mobility aids and pushchairs can also be hired.

The standard admission ticket provides complete freedom to organise the day, while the Diamond and All Inclusive tickets make the visit more convenient with a guided behind-the-scenes tour and reserved seating in the presentation venues. Loro Parque is ideal for those who want to discover the extraordinary diversity of the world's wildlife in a single day within a carefully designed, spectacular and internationally outstanding park.

FINESTPASS™ PRO tip
• arrive at around 9:10 (9:10 AM)-9:20 (9:20 AM), so you can be at the entrance when the park opens and get ahead of some of the passengers arriving on morning tour buses
• when arriving independently, an efficient order is the sea lion, parrot, dolphin and orca shows
• take a screenshot of the daily presentation times as soon as you enter, as both the mobile internet connection and the official timetable may change
• head to the popular presentations at least 20 minutes in advance, as entry may be closed before the scheduled starting time if the venue reaches capacity
• the front rows at the orca presentation are genuine splash zones, so expect to be completely soaked rather than lightly sprayed
• if you want to stay dry, choose a seat higher up and farther back
• do not take cameras, phones or other sensitive valuables into the splash zone at the orca presentation
• if you do not want a paid souvenir photograph, decline it politely but clearly at the entrance
• the park's routes can be difficult to navigate on a first visit, so do not rely solely on the signs and continuously follow the numbered map
• make Planet Penguin, Coral Kingdom, Katandra Treetops and the shark tunnel priorities in advance, otherwise they can easily be missed by the end of the day
• if you are not interested in a particular animal presentation, visit the most popular animal habitats while it is taking place, as they are usually less crowded at these times
• have lunch before 13:00 (1 PM) or after 14:30 (2:30 PM), as the restaurants and seating areas can fill up quickly in between
• bringing your own food is officially permitted, so a picnic is the most predictable option in the case of food allergies, a picky child or a tight presentation schedule
• shaded rest areas can fill up during high season, so do not wait until everyone is having lunch at the same time before looking for a seat
• parking cannot be reserved in advance and may fill up during the morning, making early arrival particularly important when travelling by car
• the free mini-train from Puerto de la Cruz is convenient but can be crowded; if you are travelling light, a pre-booked taxi may be a faster and more relaxed option
• the transfer from southern Tenerife is convenient, but the 16:30 (4:30 PM) return departure provides less time, so your own car offers greater flexibility if you want to explore the entire park and see every presentation
• if you plan to return to southern Tenerife by taxi, book it in advance and do not rely solely on the cars waiting at the exit
• during high season, the greatest practical advantage of the Diamond or All Inclusive ticket is not lunch but the reserved seating in the presentation venues, which can save a significant amount of queuing
• do not base your expectations on the weather in southern Tenerife, as Puerto de la Cruz can be cooler, cloudier and wetter
• do not plan another distant activity for the same day, as Loro Parque is a full-day programme in itself when visited without rushing

CANCELLATION POLICY
1/ MODIFICATION AND CANCELLATION
Once the booking has been confirmed and the tickets have been issued, the booking cannot be cancelled and the amount paid cannot be refunded.

The date of the visit or the booking details can only be modified by prior arrangement, with the provider's permission and subject to availability; modification cannot be guaranteed.

2/ LATER USE OF THE TICKET
According to the official information provided by Loro Parque, unused park admission tickets do not automatically lose their validity and can therefore be used during a later visit. This does not provide an entitlement to a refund.

Additional services linked to a specific date or time - such as the transfer from the south, the guided behind-the-scenes tour, reserved seating and the meal - cannot automatically be transferred to another day. Any modification to these services requires prior approval.

3/ TWIN TICKET
The Twin Ticket is non-refundable. The first park can be visited at any later date, but the second park must be visited within 15 days of the first admission.

If the 15-day usage period expires or the original QR code or undamaged wristband is missing, the second admission will be forfeited and the amount paid cannot be refunded.

4/ CANCELLATION BY THE PROVIDER
If the provider cancels the entire booked programme or service, you can choose from the following options:
a) the booking can be moved free of charge to another available date
b) part or all of the amount paid can be credited towards the booking of another programme
c) a voucher can be requested, which can be used for programmes available through FINESTPASS™ for 5 years from the date of issue
d) 100% of the amount paid will be refunded

The temporary modification, cancellation or closure of an animal presentation, animal habitat, restaurant, guided route or another area of the park does not automatically constitute cancellation of the entire programme and does not in itself provide an entitlement to a refund.

5/ LATE ARRIVAL AND NO-SHOW
The standard admission ticket is not linked to an exact admission time, but morning arrival is recommended to explore the park comfortably.

The transfer from the south, the Diamond Tour and All Inclusive include services linked to specific times. In the event of late arrival or a no-show, the bus and guided tour will not wait for the participant, and any missed transfer, behind-the-scenes tour, reserved seating or meal cannot be rescheduled or refunded.
