The TukTuk is a relaxed city tour of Costa Adeje with a live guide. The open-sided, 100% electric vehicle travels quietly between the coastline, resort areas and the surrounding higher-lying areas, giving you a good view of the surroundings even while on the move.
Depending on the route available for booking, you can choose a coastal, volcanic or longer programme combining the two. The shorter tours last around 1 hour, while the combined route presents several distinct parts of Costa Adeje in around 2 hours.
The coastal route takes you towards Costa Adeje's more elegant resort districts and more natural stretches of coastline. Along the way, you may pass through the area around Plaza del Duque and Playa de la Enramada, as well as the former fishing village of La Caleta. Most locations can be seen from the TukTuk, while at certain points there may also be an opportunity to get out briefly and take photos.
The main location on the volcanic route is Caldera del Rey, a wide, shallow volcanic crater above Costa Adeje. The area's volcanic soil is particularly fertile, which is why extensive banana plantations can be found around the crater. The plantations are privately owned, so the programme does not include a visit or entry to the banana plantations.
The TukTuk's open design provides a more direct experience than a traditional coach: you can feel the wind, hear the sounds of the town and enjoy a more unobstructed view of the surroundings. However, there is no air-conditioned, fully enclosed passenger compartment, and uneven sections of the road may be more noticeable.
The live guide is an important part of the programme. During the journey, the guide shares information about the districts, beaches, historical sites and the development of Costa Adeje. Due to traffic and background noise from the open vehicle, the guide may occasionally be more difficult to hear, so the programme cannot be compared with a quiet, detailed museum tour.
The programme is suitable for those who want to gain a quick and enjoyable overview of the Costa Adeje area without long walks. This experience connects several different locations within a short time, although you should bear in mind that the stops are brief and most of the route is completed while seated in the TukTuk.
