The Teide Cable Car (Teleférico del Teide) is an excellent choice for those who would like to experience Tenerife's best-known natural attraction comfortably, without a long hike. The cable car takes you into the higher regions of the Teide volcano in a short time, where an extraordinary volcanic landscape, a high-altitude atmosphere and, in clear weather, breathtaking panoramic views await.
The Teide Cable Car base station is located at an altitude of approx. 2,356 metres (7,730 feet). From here, the cabins ascend in around 8 minutes to the La Rambleta upper station, at an altitude of approx. 3,555 metres (11,660 feet). The journey itself is a spectacular experience: from the cabin, you can clearly see the volcanic landscape of Teide National Park, traces of the lava flows and the mountain’s unique geological surroundings.
At the upper station, you can decide how active you would like to be. Many visitors simply go up, look around, take photographs, enjoy the views and then return by cable car. Those who wish can also follow the designated routes towards the viewpoints and short walking trails, from where, in clear weather, you can see the enormous crater of the Pico Viejo volcano, Tenerife's volcanic landscapes, the surrounding Canary Islands and the blue horizon of the Atlantic Ocean.
It is important to know that this activity does not include access to the summit of Teide. A separate permit is required to use the Telesforo Bravo trail leading to the summit. Permits are available in limited numbers and are not included with this ticket.
The Teide Cable Car is the perfect choice for those who would like to enjoy an exceptional high-altitude experience at Tenerife's most iconic location in a short time. You do not need to prepare for a demanding hike, but due to the high altitude, it is advisable to pay attention to your physical condition and wear comfortable, layered clothing.

FINESTPASS™ PRO tip
• for a better view inside the cable car, it is worth standing on the downhill side
• at the upper station, we recommend visiting the Pico Viejo viewpoint: far fewer people choose it than the La Fortaleza route, while in our opinion the panorama is even more spectacular
• along the Pico Viejo route, look out for the rare, purple-flowered Teide violet, one of the special plants of Teide’s extreme high-altitude environment
• you can also see fumaroles along the route: warm, sulphurous gases and water vapour seep out through small openings and cracks in the ground
