Monkey Park is a small, welcoming animal park where visitors can observe several fascinating animals much more closely than at traditional zoos. It is ideal for anyone looking for a short and easy-to-explore yet truly personal animal experience. You can discover the park at your own pace and spend as much time as you like with your favourite animals.
The park opened in 1991 and has been dedicated to the care, breeding and protection of endangered animals from the very beginning. It also provides a home for rescued animals, and every visit helps support the park’s conservation work. Instead of spectacular shows, the focus is on the animals’ natural behaviour.
The most special parts of the park are the walk-through contact areas. Here, lemurs, smaller monkeys, guinea pigs and other curious animals may come very close to you. At the entrance, you can purchase special food containing vegetables and fruit and feed it to the designated animals.
Monkey Park is home to ring-tailed lemurs, several species of monkeys, colourful parrots, guinea pigs, tortoises, wallabies and Cuban crocodiles. The park pays particular attention to primates such as De Brazza’s monkeys, patas monkeys and white-headed marmosets.
According to the park’s official information, the route can be completed in around one hour. However, it is worth allowing 1.5-2 hours if you would also like to feed the animals, observe them at a relaxed pace and take photographs. The park’s small size is a major advantage: you do not need to walk long distances, and you can easily return to your favourite areas.
The park is accessible with wheelchairs and strollers, and rest areas and toilets are available along the route.
Monkey Park can easily be included in a morning or early afternoon itinerary. It is an especially good choice for families, couples and anyone looking for a more personal and peaceful animal experience instead of a large park.
