Masca Express is an easy-to-fit yet rewarding ocean experience for those who want to see two special sides of Tenerife at the same time: whales and dolphins living in their natural habitat, as well as the impressive cliffs of Los Gigantes.
The boat departs from the port of Los Gigantes and then heads towards ocean areas suitable for whale and dolphin watching. The search and anticipation are also part of the experience: as you travel across the open water, every dorsal fin, movement or spray that appears can bring a new moment of excitement.
Observing cetaceans in their natural environment offers a very different experience from an organised animal show. Here, the animals move at their own pace, while from the boat you can observe their behaviour and the marine life of the Atlantic Ocean.
Another defining sight of the trip is the steep cliffs of Los Gigantes, rising several hundred metres (over 1,000 ft) high. Impressive even from land, these formations truly reveal their scale when viewed from the ocean. From the boat, you can also see rock formations, caves and secluded stretches of coastline that cannot be reached by road.
The experience continues towards the rugged coastline of Masca. In favourable ocean conditions, the boat also stops in Masca Bay, where there may be an opportunity to sunbathe, swim or snorkel. The break among the cliffs pleasantly complements the excitement of whale and dolphin watching.
The approximately two-hour Masca Express is a particularly good choice for families, couples and groups of friends who want a classic Tenerife boat experience but do not want to spend half or a full day on the ocean. In a short time, it brings together the island's characteristic wildlife, western coastline and one of its most beautiful natural bays.
