What makes the Jeep Wrangler | Teide Tour special is that you do not simply view Tenerife's landscapes as a passenger: you drive your own Jeep Wrangler behind the tour guide. The freedom of the driving experience is combined with the security of an organised small-group route, allowing you to focus on Teide's mountain roads and volcanic landscapes without having to plan the route and stops yourself.
The tour departs from Costa Adeje and approaches Teide National Park from the direction of Guía de Isora along winding mountain roads. As you travel higher, the vegetation gradually gives way to lava fields, volcanic rock formations and Teide's high plateau. Several panoramic viewpoints and photo stops along the approximately 120-kilometre (75 mi) route allow you to experience the scenery outside the vehicle as well.
The activity is timed around sunset. From a high-altitude viewpoint, the ocean, the surrounding islands and, in favourable weather, the layer of clouds may all become part of the view. The colours of the sunset and the volcanic surroundings create a particularly beautiful setting for group photos, while the natural scenery always depends on the current weather conditions.
At the beginning of the tour, the guide explains how to operate the Jeep and presents the safety rules before leading the group in a separate vehicle. Along the way, the guide shares local stories and explanations about the places you see, while communication between the vehicles helps everyone stay connected. Bottled water, cold soft drinks and, if required, warm jackets are also available.
This activity is an especially good choice for couples, families and small groups of friends who would like to combine Teide's sunset scenery with a genuine driving experience. The activity is not designed around extreme off-road driving: its value comes from the character of the Jeep Wrangler, the carefully planned route, the small group and the more personal way of exploring the island.
