OVERVIEW
Diving on the Moon (Sea Trek Experience) offers a completely different way to discover the ocean: you do not need to know how to swim, wear a scuba tank or have any previous diving experience. Wearing a special helmet with a continuous air supply, you walk along the ocean floor while breathing naturally through your nose and mouth. Your head stays dry, so you can clearly enjoy the underwater world even while wearing glasses.

This can be especially exciting if you have always wondered what it feels like to move beneath the surface, but traditional scuba diving has seemed like too big a step. Sea Trek does not require a diving licence, swimming skills or previous experience, making it easily approachable as a first underwater experience. The program is available from the age of 8, making it a great option for families who would like to try something truly unusual together.

The program takes place on the southern coast of Tenerife, in the Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos area. The descent begins gradually from shallow water close to the shore, and most sessions take place at a depth of around 3 metres (10 ft), with a maximum depth of 5 metres (16 ft). From here, you can see the sandy and rocky ocean floor from a completely different perspective while local fish and other marine life move around you. The presence of larger animals - such as turtles, rays or dolphins - cannot, of course, be guaranteed.

One of the greatest advantages of Sea Trek is its simplicity. The helmet receives a continuous supply of air from the surface, so there is no need for a regulator or diving mask, and your hands remain free. Entry into the water is gradual and controlled, with the instructors staying by your side throughout the experience. The small group size works particularly well for this activity: the team currently operates with two helmets, so participants complete the underwater section in pairs.

All essential equipment is provided on site. A wetsuit, suitable water shoes and the Sea Trek helmet are included, while secure storage is available for your personal belongings. Essentially, you only need to bring swimwear and a towel. This makes the experience especially convenient, as there is no need to rent separate diving equipment or deal with technical gear.

The underwater walk itself lasts approximately 20-25 minutes, while you should allow around 1.5 hours for the complete program. This includes reception, the safety briefing, changing, equipment preparation, the underwater experience and returning to the base. After the program, you can view the underwater photos and videos taken of you, which are available to purchase separately.

Diving on the Moon is particularly well suited to those who would like to get closer to the world of the ocean without necessarily learning how to scuba dive. Natural breathing, small groups, continuous guidance and a slow, controlled entry allow you to focus less on technique and more on the reason you came: the unusual feeling of simply walking along the ocean floor a few metres beneath the surface.

• if you cannot swim or feel a little nervous before going underwater, tell the instructors at the beginning; many of our previous guests specifically mention that the gradual entry and continuous assistance helped them feel much more relaxed during the program
• if you wear prescription glasses, you can keep them on; for several of our guests who wear glasses, one of the best parts of the experience was being able to see the marine life clearly underwater
• it is worth viewing the photos and videos taken of you at the end of the program
• for groups of 3-4 people, keep in mind that you will go underwater in pairs; because of this, the total program time may be closer to 1.5 hours than the actual 20-25 minutes of personal underwater time might suggest
